A Star Spangled Kind of Day

With 4th of July right around the corner, I'd like to share ways to have fun with your grandchildren while still maintaining social distancing from huge crowds.

Top 10 ways to celebrate the 4th of July at home with your loved ones

  • Make a 4th of July wreath with your grandchild

  • Popsicles are always fun to make

  • Root beer floats are a big hit

  • S'mores (graham crackers, chocolate and a yummy marshmallow)

  • Pitch a tent in the back yard for your grandchildren

  • Create an outdoor movie night and watch a fun summer movie complete with popcorn

  • 4th of July scavenger hunt

  • Make handprint flag t-shirts

  • If you can watch the fireworks from a distance, coordinate a couple of families to watch it together. When my children were little, we used to always watch the fireworks on the golf course with our neighbors. Might be just the right time to start a new tradition

  • Sparklers if they are legal in your city are also fun. Here are some sparkler tips to keep your grandchildren safe

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you can spend time with those who are close to your heart. Stay safe and let me know if you have any fun tips to share.
