A Few Of Our Favorite Things

Our Picks - February, 2021

You might consider me a connoisseur of mascara. I have tried so many brands over the years and finally have one I adore, Chanel Le Volume. It goes on smoothly with no clumps. My lashes look fuller and longer with only two applications. It is on the expensive side but well worth it. You can purchase it at Nordstroms

I first used these cooling under-eye gel patches in November, when I participated in a virtual NFL half time routine. If you didn’t read my blog about being an NFL cheerleader, you can check it out here! After using these for the first time, I absolutely love them! They are enriched with moisture-boosting Vitamins C & B3 to visibly brighten the look of dark circles while caffeine de-puffs and allantoin and aloe combine to soothe, leaving you with refreshed, hydrated brighter-looking eyes. So, if you’re going on a date with your significant other, looking for an eye boost or want your eyes to look brighter in your portraits, give these a try. They come in a jar containing 60 gel patches, which is 30 applications! I have tried similar beauty products at spas and have paid accordingly for them. What a great surprise to me that when I decided to give these a try, they were very affordable. I have seen this line in Whole Foods and some other high end grocery stores. Of course to make it easier, you can also order them through Amazon and they will be delivered right to your home. So, put your feet up, pour yourself a glass of wine and take 10 minutes to a brighter looking you! Hope you enjoy!

My favorite item this month is a Christmas gift from my daughter. The GEM Hot Air Brush. This is not something I would have thought to buy for myself which is why the spirit of Christmas giving is so fun. Surprises!! So I still need some practice to perfect the technique but I will get there. I use it all the time and love how it creates body and a nice smooth finish. My hair is thin but I have a lot of it. I blow dry it to a certain stage then finish drying and styling with the GEM. It is a little more than I would typically spend on a styling tool but a good investment if you love the results. My daughter found it at TJ MAXX for a discounted price. I am not sure if this particular brand is still available in stores but you can find many similar products that will be perfect for your type of hair.

I'm not kidding when I say this frother is from Heaven! Not only that but I feel as if I'm now my own barista making amazing coffee at home. Honestly, I didn’t even know I needed a milk frother until I saw it being used and then I knew I had to try it and I love it!

Here are the Pros of the Miroco Milk Frother:

  • The frother makes hot and cold milk foam in less than 2 minutes for your coffee and any specialty drinks you like.

  • I love that it’s extremely quiet and won’t wake anyone in the house.

  • It has two options – heated froth or cold froth, which is great for cold brew drinks.

  • The interior has a non-stick surface, which makes it easy to clean. Love that!

  • The unit comes with an extra whisk in case your original gets lost or damaged.

  • It’s so simple to use. Just pour in the milk (I use my coffee creamer) to the correct level, press the button and walk away! You get perfectly warm milk or cream with froth.

I love, love, love it!! Sorry, I don't have any cons. You can heat and froth fat-free milk, half and half, almond milk or any coffee creamer of your choice. My frother looks great sitting on the counter right next to my brewer. So, if you're looking for a frother, you’re going to want to get this one. I purchased mine through Amazon. Coffee with a friend is like capturing happiness in a cup.

Enjoy!

At the end of the day, we all know we need to wash our face, right? Well, I have to admit, many times I’m so wiped out, I just don’t have the energy to do a proper cleansing and moisturizer routine. Plus, my husband retires early and our bathroom isn’t separated by a door, so I don’t want to wake him with the lights on and sink running. These SIMPLE kind to skin cleansing and makeup removing wipes have become my go to on many an evening. Unlike many wipes, they’re moist enough so you don’t feel like you have to wipe too hard. I really like that they are fragrance-free and don’t have a lot of ingredients and harsh chemicals, plus cruelty free and compostable. I also love that I can use them while I’m still in the living room watching late-night TV (I’m somewhat of a night owl). They’re available everywhere, and here on Amazon.

I know that I still need to take better care of my skin, but sometimes just doing something is better than doing nothing and I’m thankful to have a product that can help me with that.
